HELLO Body Mind Centering Association!
Welcome to our Breema Workshop:
Body-Mind Connection and Movement to Wholeness
Friday, August 9th
Location: DTW 1507
Breema is a dynamic philosophy and movement practice that potentiates body-mind connection as a catalyst for transformation in human relationships. When body and mind come together receptively, we can discover our capacity to experience an inherent and inclusive consciousness grounded in connection with the body. Fear of others diminishes when there is a recognition that we are part of one interconnected, interrelated whole.
In this workshop, we will work with Self-Breema exercises, Breema bodywork partner exercises, and Breema’s Nine Principles of Harmony. Breema’s natural movements and nonjudgmental approach introduce a unique quality of touch that is a direct expression of being present.
The aim of Breema is to bring us to a tangible experience of presence that becomes our foundation for a new dimension of health, consciousness, and self-understanding. We discover an open-hearted, balanced relation to ourselves, others, and all life.
(Breema® is a practical way to bring body and mind together and raise our level of consciousness. )
Birthe started studying Breema as part of completing her the Body-Mind Centering Certification (BMC) in 1999.Breema’s approach to working with the body, with the aim of being present, supported a truly holistic view of the body, mind, and feelings working together. Working with Breema’s Nine Principles became tangible tools in the direction of relating to the body as a vehicle for experiencing different dimensions of consciousness.
Birthe created her program “Baby Moves,” working with parents and babies in the first year of life, based in BMC. She has been conducting these classes in the Bay Area since 1999. Bringing BMC and Breema together has supported many parents to experience the significance of bringing presence to parenting.
Birthe became a Certified Breema Instructor in 2001. She has taught Breema at renowned holistic facilities in the US and teaches nationally and internationally. Some of her most recent teaching engagements include Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Austria, and Arizona. She also serves as a Staff Instructor at the Breema Center and is a Senior Practitioner at the Breema Clinic in Oakland, California.
Angela Porter is a graduate of the Wright Institute Counseling Psychology program, an international Instructor at the Breema Center, and offers Somatic Psychotherapy, Holistic Counseling and Consultations at the Greeting Health Integrative Clinic in Oakland, California. Her studies of body-mind connection have led her from…
“When I am present, my clients benefit. What I bring to the session more than anything else is myself, my level of being, how I am. I bring what I embody, in this moment. And when I bring an actual, tangible atmosphere of self-acceptance, regardless of what appears in the room, or inside my own thoughts and feelings, then without saying a word, my clients receive that. I benefit, because I don’t have to figure out how I need to be or how they are, or pretend to know something I don’t—none of that. The process of therapy becomes an exchange of aliveness where through the emphasis on being present my clients increasingly become the true compass for their own journey.”—Angela
