Everything needs the correct energy.

When you do your job properly, things work. When you don’t, they don’t. It’s as simple as that. Everything needs the correct energy. You need to relate to each person with the right energy if you want your interaction to move in the direction of greater harmony. Say you have a key chain with 100 keys on it. Each key will open one specific lock. You can’t just use any key—you need the right one, which you can find by being present. You have to see what you wish and move towards it. Then life becomes an art.

When you want to nurture someone…

When you want to nurture someone, give them food; don’t talk about how great food tastes. Our desire should be to nurture others, not to impress them. Making things complicated may impress others. But simplicity nurtures.

Wholehearted participation in any activity…

Wholehearted participation in any activity lessens tension. And when the body is flexible, balanced, and more free of tension, it helps the mind and feelings relate to life more harmoniously. The most important step towards releasing tension is to first know you’re tense. One precious thing about Breema is that it tells you to allow that which is, and be grateful you saw it. That gratitude is additional energy you can use.

The natural rhythm of your body…

In Breema, you function with the natural rhythm of your body. Your mind supports you in that, and your feelings are present and supportive, too. The unification of your mind, feelings, and body saves your energy from being drained. You use your energy, but without becoming fatigued. When you work with only one part of yourself, the energy that’s used is lost. When your mind, feelings, and body work together, a “return circuit” is created, and the energy you use flows back to you “with interest.” That is vitality.

Nourishment for the life around us…

Every year, a tree has to show some new growth. New branches, new buds, new leaves—something new has to be there. We also need to show some yearly growth, some “income” from the expenditure of our energy. We need to have some new understanding, some new insight into the meaning and purpose of life. A tree bears fruit. We, too, need to provide nourishment for the life around us.

Your appetite for a more meaningful life.

We can nurture our feelings by doing small things—things we find rewarding while we’re doing them, without an emphasis on outer approval. If you like to draw, spend a few minutes drawing a picture. If you like to sing, sing for your own enjoyment. As your feelings are nurtured, they begin to ask you to do things which you’re genuinely interested in, like really listening to the sound of the water you’re boiling for tea. Or to really look at the birds outside your window. Once your feelings begin participating in your life, your mind starts to yearn for good food, too. Instead of automatically looking at the news and mechanically watching or reading whatever is there, it may ask you to choose something that’s of real interest to you. By nurturing your feelings, you can support your appetite for a more meaningful life.

The only thing you can do is become available…

Don’t think that you are free to be whatever you wish, just like that. In order to become what you truly wish to be, you must follow universal principles, principles of Truth. The only thing you can do is become available, so you can receive truthful knowledge. Even after you receive it, don’t think it’s yours. The moment you claim it’s yours, you lose it. Have you ever seen a firefly? This little insect is very beautiful. It gives light through its tail, and only for a brief second. We can learn two things from it: one, your mind cannot give you light. And two, light can only be created for a tiny second.

Acceptance is the beginning of understanding.

What happens when you accept someone? When you accept someone, you create an atmosphere in them of well-wishing towards you. You have well-wishing for whoever accepts you. Acceptance is the beginning of understanding. When someone is accepted, they don’t hold so much extra around themself. They are simpler. You have more of a chance to relate to them as they really are.

Health means wholeness.

Health means wholeness. You can look at health as a large meadow, a large field. When water flows and reaches every part of that field, it is healthy. When energy flows to every part of our body, we are healthy. When there is a problem, you may begin searching for where the energy hasn’t reached, where it is stuck. But when your diagnosis leads you to a single cause, you’re moving away from the truth. In the interconnectedness and interrelatedness of everything that exists, can you find a single cause for anything? When you look correctly, you find that the cause of any particular thing is everything! That’s why Breema doesn’t diagnose. But to have health, energy does need to flow. So Breema advises us that the best and most effective way to deal with a problem is to increase vitality.

Consciousness grows when you experience that you are conscious.

You may wish to be more conscious, to be present, to be connected. But there is one difficulty—consciousness cannot be developed unconsciously. Consciousness grows when you experience that you are conscious. How can we search for that experience if we’ve never had it? It takes a lot for us to come to the simple fact that we have no idea what consciousness is. It’s harder for us to accept that we are not conscious than to become conscious! Yet no understanding is possible without being conscious.
